President Rodrigo Roa Duterte recently signed RA no. 11522 declaring the 18th day of every year to be a national day for higher education, with May 21st of this year as the first national Higher Education Day, with the commemoration of the 27th Founding Anniversary of the Commission of Higher Education from May 17-21, 2021 with the theme, “Pandayan Tungo sa Kaunlaran” which represent moving forward and claiming victory for “Philippine Higher Education” as quoted by CHED Chairman, J. Prospero E. De Vera III, DPA.

In light of the special occasion, Cronasia Foundation College, Inc., one of the most active institutions in the General Santos City, participated in the aforementioned celebration. Last May 17, 2021, the faculty and the staff gathered outside the institution for a pictorial in line with the said theme, and later initiated a Facebook LIVE webinar for opening ceremony lead by the school administrator, Atty. Cyd Charisse P. Non-Dizon, REA, REB, who showcased her short presentation.

The administration invited a very inspiring guest speaker, Mr. Edward Lacanilao, CGM, who gave emphasis to the topic “Moving On”. In another event, the CHEDRO XII: Gender Responsiveness Webinar, 34-year-old Sherie Mie Y. Manangca, RSW was invited as the guest speaker who shared very relevant details regarding the subject. She is the Center Social Worker for the Marcellin Foundation, member of Batch Madasigun, and scholar of RD Foundation who was also awarded as Best in Social Case Study in her time. Gender responsiveness refers to outcomes that reflect an understanding of gender roles and inequalities and making an effort to encourage equal participation and fair distribution of benefits.

The webinar was a success towards achieving its goal of gender analysis and gender inclusiveness. It was a great achievement with the enthusiastic participation of students who won prizes. Cronasia Foundation College, INC. also participated in some of the CHED’s activities such as the infomercial Contest in which the students pursuing Bachelor in Multimedia Arts also led by their Coordinator, Mr. Leomil Jay B. Duran. Likewise, “TES GRANTEES” invited and were recognized for their excellent academic performance.

Through all these endeavors, a lot of people were able to witness the event despite the current situation caused by the pandemic. They can still choose to enjoy and celebrate fun and exciting moments, such as the experience gained from participating and collaborating with CHED’s 27th Founding Anniversary, with the full support of our own institution and us, Cronasians.
