School closures due to COVID-19 have brought significant disruptions to education not only in the Philippines but also around the world.

At the peak of the pandemic, the entire schools in the Philippines were closed affecting millions of students. Given the abruptness of the situation, teachers and administration were unprepared for this transition and were forced to build emergency remote learning system almost immediately. One of the limitations of emergency remote learning is the lack of personal interaction between teachers and students. However, most of the students and teachers showed initiative by using other methods to improve the remote educational experience including social media, email, and other gadgetries.

The teachers are taking up steps to safeguard and strengthen education by improving the ability of instructional aids as well as the application of online platform providing further support and social protection to both teachers and students. The government aimed in combating COVID-19. Looking ahead, the Department of Education want to closely monitor overall funding levels to ensure that resources are available to support learning recovery initiatives particularly for the most vulnerable students.

Even in these challenging times, the stakeholders remain resilient and responsive in making the impossible possible, in this new normal era everyone is involved in creating a safe and conducive learning environment.
